Almost every day I come across interesting profiles on #nostr that I haven't seen before and I’m sure there are many more out there. Some of these have actually been around and posting for a while. Without algorithms, finding good content and people to follow can be difficult. Some thoughts on the mechanisms that we currently have:

- Trending algorithms - Some clients implement trending algorithms and there are some web based ones (e.g. nostr.band). I personally don't find these very useful. They tend to just amplify content from larger profiles that has already been reposted a lot and they aren't selective so things like "GM" notes are trending but this isn’t the new and interesting content that I want to find.

- Reposts - I come across a lot of people to follow through seeing their content reposted by someone I am already following. We perhaps should be doing more reposting of both our own content and those of other profiles that we find interesting to give it more visibility.

- Hashtags - Hashtags can be useful for finding content on specific topics and some clients allow following a hashtag. I'm interested to see how this goes using Notedeck since it is possible to have separate columns for specific hashtags. The downside to hashtags is that they can easily be misused, people can tag notes with whatever they want, and I see some notes with a large list of unrelated hashtags.

- DVMs - DVMs are something I haven't looked in to much but from what I understand there are some that might be useful to help with content discovery. These may be useful if they were supported in more clients.
