Let me advocate for something that won't happen anyway.
i think we should use opus instead of mp3. especially for live audio.
its way better.
less data to transmit, so its better for the listeners, better for hosting companies bills. if they have a live server and better for podcasters.
from my testing at least, the higher the amount of data is an icecast server needs to push out, the less listeners at once it can handle.
