Yea, in aircraft it makes total sense. Actually the airplane owner should own the batteries since if one of those things goes haywire it's a very bad day, so it needs to be his risk. In fact if it's a certificated aircraft, the battery should be "part of the airplane" for certification purposes.

And like I said, the key reason why you need it in an aircraft is because you can adapt the number of batteries you're flying with to adjust weight.
