Two of the best places to see/get pictures of Alewives and the birds that prey on them in Maine are
Damariscotta Mills, and Payson Park in Warren Maine, are close to each other.
Damariscotta Mills fish ladder is "ground central" for photographers with big lens to get action shots of Ospreys and Eagles. Payson is a solid little known public park, that lets you get right down to the water, has playground equipment, and a footbridge over the Georges River.
