OnlyOffice has a stand-alone desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux as well, so without an online component. It contains "Word", "Excel", "PowerPoint" and a PDF-editor. I use it instead of LibreOffice under Linux and it's compatible with all MS Office documents I've thrown at it in the past six months. I have used both to work on the same files in my cloud storage, mainly docx and xlsx files. I have yet to encounter any problems, it's been smooth thus far.
