A #climateCrisis thought experiement.
Since the financial crisis in 2008, we’ve pumped about 563 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The average kerb weight of a European car is (I think) roughly 1.1 tonnes.
So that’s like 512 billion cars floating above us.
At 510 million km2, the surface area of the Earth is neatly aligned with that 512.
So, **just since 2008**, we’ve shat into the air the rough equivalent of 1,000 cars per km2 hovering above us
