You didnt ask me, but thelis is the recipe our family usually follows:
2 cups raw milk
2 cups cream
3 egg yolks
1 cup of sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla (or peppermint, etc)
Beat eggs and milk together in a large saucepan. Add sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring until thickened (basically until it coats a spoon). Cool (we usually cool it overnight), then add cream and vanilla.
