The miscompilations here are because of bugs in the software, that should be fixed. Vendoring and modifying a build-dependency is not fixing the compilation bug, it’s trying to pretend it does not exist.

By the way, no bug report about this seems to be opened in the Debian bugs tracker. So the maintainers might not even be aware of it.
