An Age Verification App shall support the following:
1. Document Reading
- Support optical character recognition (OCR) of machine-readable zones (MRZ) with error correction per ICAO 9303-3
- Implement contactless NFC communication for eMRTDs using PACE v2 protocol with Card Access Number (CAN) authentication
- Validate document authenticity through:
- MRZ checksum verification
- Cryptographic validation of chip data signatures
- Cross-referencing with issuing authority validation services
2. Biometric Verification Submodule
- Perform ISO/IEC 30107-compliant liveness detection to prevent spoofing (masks, photos, deepfakes)
- Conduct facial recognition matching between:
- Live capture (selfie/video)
- Document portrait (optical/NFC chip)
- Threshold: >=98% similarity score with bias mitigation
3. Age Attestation Mechanism
- Extract birthdate from MRZ (positions 7-14 in TD3 docs)
- Request from the operating system a tamper-evident attestation of AVI properties
