As a non technical person I can testify to the compound effect of pursuing privacy [different journeys but the effect is the same]:

> stop giving away your real info to any person/company
> delete all social platforms except Nostr
> you ditch gmail for a more 'private' service > you realized email hasnt changed since 1995 and become an early adopter of pre-lokinet Session
> realize all shitcoins are traceable as fuck including Bitcoin and Ztrash
> start learning Monero like it's DAY ONE at cypherpunk school
> throw away all devices that are not Linux or GrapheneOS
> encrypt everything at rest
> upgrade to custom firmware [coreboot]
> disable wifi [physically or bios] and use a removable adaptor and ethernet at home
> faraday pouches and sleeves on main travel gear
> strict use of FOSS apps in personal and professional life
> onboard or force others to use the same apps as you
> pay for VPN, data esim and parallel markets with XMR or cash
> ereader shelf becomes 'Extreme Privacy', 'Permanent Record', 'Art of Deception' among others
> sit facing away from CCTV in public places, always aware of surroundings
> secure tax residencies in 2 other countries with offshore bank accounts
> only use PO Boxes for deliveries
> build your own surveillance detection devices
> start learning reticulum mesh networking and radio comms
