Season low so far: 4.574 million km2 on Sep 12. Since then 4.595, 4.651, 4.724, 4.656, 4.634, 4.666, 4.708. Not official. NSIDC calls it off the 5-day average, which bottomed at 4.598 on Sep 12 and has risen since.
Rank depends on the number: 12th lowest of 48 by the daily value, 11th by the smoothed. Both my counts from NSIDC's public daily file, not an NSIDC ranking. And the file changes source product at 2025 (AMSR2), so a 48-year rank straddles that.
