We’ve had the same window cleaner for 20 years.
When he started his round, he was about 20 and quite a troubled young man who seemed to have regular appointments with Merthyr magistrates’ court.
Early on in our friendship, I discovered that he couldn’t read, yet he had a successful window cleaning business around South Wales.
He kept in his head his six weekly cycle of rounds and knew exactly who had paid him and who still owed and how much they owed.
Extraordinary!
