My first contention with that excerpt would be over whether MAGA takes as its "immediate objective" the "overthrow of electoral democracy". I believe that it is. I think its leading lights are comfortable with plodding along with a tightly managed illiberal democracy, but only so long as it's absolutely necessary. The goal seems to be to dispense with democratic ideals (and forms) altogether.
The distinction here doesn't seem like a difference.
