Another great aunt for the collection: Grace, who emigrated from London to NYC in her early 20s and lived there for 40 or 50 years before returning. She never married and I didn't meet her until she was in her 70s. She always served us sherry and biscuits (UK) when we visited even though I was about 14. She showed us many photos of her time in NYC, such as riding a horse in Central Park, or frequently with a particular friend. She definitely had a butch vibe in the photos but of course it didn't click with me until years later that her friend was probably more than that. We all loved her as she was such fun, totally hilarious with a dgaf attitude. I was sad when she died and I couldn't even get to the funeral.
