Though I haven’t done any calculations for light emitted by a falling lantern, the borehole calculations that I plotted in this thread show that if you drop a material object down a borehole that goes all the way through to the other side, or shine a light from the surface of the ball down into the borehole, for R=9M/4 neither the material object nor the light will emerge at the other end of the borehole in any finite time as measured at the surface of the ball.
