I’ve tried to, dumb this down so everyone can understand why Donald Trump won.
First and foremost, nearly everyone was tired of the status quo.
Second, people want a hero — or an anti-hero — to escape from that status quo.
Donald Trump is a monster, but for many, unfortunately, he was the only hero or anti-hero available.
Kamala Harris was right about one thing: We're not going back. And by that, I mean we're not going back to the status quo. Business as usual is what the American people have been rejecting.
Democratic leadership has shown no interest in offering the American people anything new. They wanted business as usual before Trump, and they still want business as usual after Trump.
Lacking a hero — or an anti-hero — the people will elect whichever side provides one, because the need to escape the status quo has only grown — even more so as Trump continues to prove himself a monster.
If it's not progressive, it will be conservative.
