Sophia Tolstaya (nprofile…ecqs) it depends, my telescope pictures aren't even as good as the ones you can get with like a picture-only telescope like the SeeStar S50. Those pictures look amazing, like the kinds you would put into posters or whatever, but there's no way to look through that telescope. However, if you get one like mine, it's only set up for viewing really and not for pictures, so my pictures aren't very good (relatively), but I wanted to restrict myself to a telescope that is just for viewing because astrophotography is a very expensive black hole to fall into 😅
but yeah i support optimizing for actually looking at it with your eyes than pictures, but it's whatever you want. Alternatively, even a good pair of high powered binoculars will let you look at the planets really nicely, and good binoculars will be useful in the daytime for animals or birds as well, that's always an option too!
i just got the basic recommendation of a 8" (or 10" if you can swing it) dobsonian but unfortunately i don't see any telescopes on facebook marketplace close to you, so you might have to do a bit of a roadtrip to get one, but you should be able to find one with a bunch of eyepieces for $300-500 I think
