The "Photoshop ended up being fine too" argument bugs me in particular. I don't know if this one comes from people who are so young that they only know a world where Photoshop exists or from people with really terrible historical memory.
No, it fucking wasn't "fine".
It enabled the fashion and advertising industry to give countless people a horribly distorted body image with all the nasty consequences of that. As a society we're struggling with the impact of tools like Photoshop to this day.
Just because it's "normal" to you doesn't mean it's ok.
