I think a "quantum double" is thinking small. I see it more like infinite versions of ourselves. I played with jumping from one quantum state to another, and had an interesting result. When talking to family members about my past, we have stories that differ to the point of "not being possible".
I'm wondering that if I were to do it again, and to a greater extreme, if I would appear insane to the people that are closest to me, since there may be even a greater disconnect in our memories. I guess, if there are infinite states, one could keep their past entact while changing quantum states, but that's probably beyond novice level.
