well i think at some level of technological advancement it's trivial to provide everyone the basics, so in that sense "post-scarcity" is real, no need for infinite abundance for that
but i agree, Iain likes to go over the top, it's not as down-to-earth as the other two mentioned, more like space opera in a vaguely anarchistic setting
but also the most fun in that a lot of wild stuff happens, Distress and The Dispossessed are kind of gloomy 🙂
