BTW, the endangered birds were the Golden-Cheeked Warbler and the Black-Capped Vireo. I have, as of last spring, at least _heard_ a g.c. warbler (I have perfect oak-juniper forest for their breeding ground), but haven’t detected a vireo in a couple of years ☹️
