I am child-free this weekend.
I did not think I would be an empty-nester. I, clearly, massively underestimated the degree to which caring for my children defined my primary purpose for the last 2 decades.
I mean, I always considered the children my career and my paid employment as a second job. That was a conscious choice. Supporting them is still my top life priority, but it takes up a lot less time these days - and mostly involves transferring money 😄.
