Im from a culture that 'how are you' is reserved for long arse answer about how you really are. We say hi, hello but we dont ask how are you if we dont have enough time to listen. We say 'we'll talk'.
Took me years to realise that 'Hows it going?' is just hello and you dont need to reply with everything. Its kinda sad that you have to emphasise 'BUT how are YOU?" for you to get an actual response. 🤷♀️
Imagine the face of someone at work who asked me this question, and I replied with "Yes, my grandmother died and I got a surgery last week" Hahaha
