I think we can all dispense with the fiction that the separation of branches of government can overpower the collusion of partisanship. George Washington was right after all.

It follows, then, that a better system of government must weaken the strength of parties, by allowing minor parties to become competitive. I think that begins with #RankedChoiceVoting, which effectively undoes the natural game-theory tendency for two, and only two, very powerful parties to emerge.

What I would like to see next is the abolition of the Senate and the electoral college altogether, but that seems much less likely than first switching to RCV in the majority of states, or passing an amendment that permitted RCV in the way electoral college votes are counted.
