We approach, my wife talking to the attendant, me biting my tongue. We wanted to know if we were going to be put up for the night, given any food, any water, any recourse, an apology, anything.
"The cause of your delay was weather. Delta doesn't issue hotel vouchers or do anything if the delay is weather related".
*cue mind-snapping sounds*
My wife, cool as a cucumber: "Okay, when is our connecting flight?"
"Tomorrow, 6am."
"When does bag check open tomorrow?"
"4:30 am."
She gently guides me away as my mind continues to snap like old wood.
We did the calculus on getting a hotel room. We were already 1900 dollars in for this trip, and there was no guarantee there would be a shuttle operating early enough to get us back to the hotel to check in on time.
