I don't think it's that big a deal, myself. Like I understand how destroying a symbol can be unsettling, but the Cross is a complicated symbol, things that seem intuitive about it turn out not to be, like how people act like turning it upside down is Satanic but that's how St. Peter was crucified, it's not anti-Christian to do that.
I think burning it can be acceptable from a Christian standpoint if you separate the symbol of the Cross from Christ; you're not destroying or desecrating a depiction of Christ just by destroying a cross, and I think you should be worshipping Christ and not a symbol, even one you associate with Him.
