Im not a fan of the "harm reduction" argument. It's kind of like the federal/provincial canadian government providing free drugs instruments/alternative supply along with a "safe space" to consume harmful drugs to the drug addicts.
This doesn't fix the problem, it make it worse since now drugs addicts continue to consume in these public spaces just beside public schools with childrens.
Imo we should instead make the consequences worse for the wrong behavior. That's what bip110 and now blake are trying to do with the reduced block size and the consensus changes. I dont think they would be afraid to be even more hostile to spam if it would continue on their chain like removing the witness discount or something else since they have gone as far as hardforking.
I do agree that the execution seems not very good but at least they do something and don't hope the problem will get fixed by itself. (Sha256 chain is not on this path with all the centralization, and shitcoin behaviors like promoting ETFs, Stablecoins, KYC exchanges, Big BTC, etc.)
And to be honest if you really want to separate money from the state, you should be with a team that is reckless enough to not comply with the majority that doesn't respect your principles.
That being said, im still unsure which chain I fully support and thus will keep following both.
