TIL “presumption of conformity” and that it is… almost the opposite of what I would expect with my US ears. I would expect that it means “if you are doing industry best practices you’re presumed to conform to the standard” and instead it means “if you check the boxes in a standard, you’re presumed to conform to the law”.
The amount of work being created here is immense. It’s not *wrong* (our software sucks! it should be better!) but the optimism about the costs of transition seems delusional.
