In the last month I have played a series of so called walking simulators, and it has been the most fun I had with video games in years.
Lake was incredibly realtable: IT professional moved away for career, returning to my home town for a while a few years ago after my mother's death felt very similar to what the main character does in this game, reconnecting with old friends and living at a different pace. The setting was so lovely that I ended up buying and playing the DLC right away.
Kona was interesting. If you like Call of Cthulhu it might be the game for you.
Duck Detective is not technically a walking simulator, but two hours of humor, fully voiced and splendidly drawn.
Rainswept has been one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had, and I am looking forward to Forgotten Fields from the same team. Get it, and play it blind. It's quite powerful.
Edit: I forgot about Crow Country! Classic Resident Evil meet Tim Burton. Another incredible, atmospheric experience that looks like nostalgia-bait but it's actually pretty solid and original. Recommended!
