My fourth hobbit illustration. When Bilbo meets Smaug. The dragon’s name is derived from an old norse/icelandic word "smjúga" - present tense and "smaug" past tense. The word means to slither through a narrow opening. Tolkein borrowed a lot of words from Norse mythology and the sagas.
