By the same token you can't expect someone else to psychically anticipate your needs. Maybe you could prepare a hand-written note, obviously you can write as attested by the post above, and by writing it advance you don't have to be functional to write it at the time beyond just handing it to them. Then again you could invest in a 50 cent pair of ear plugs and just stay where you are.
