A female Sonoran blue posed for the camera. This exquisite butterfly brings the the color of the sky to earth, complete with fiery orange sun spots. Bay Area lepidopterist Liam O’Brien calls their color “electric blue tinfoil.” "A lovely little insect" is how Holland described the Sonoran blue in his 1898 The Butterfly Book.
