GIMP 3 question: I applied effects to my base layer then decided to clone out a distraction by 'painting' on a new layer. When I merged down the result was flattened, i.e., all the previously non-destructive effects were applied, but no longer editable. Is there a way to combine layers without losing the ability to edit the effects? Tried to search the docs and net, but no joy.
