Yesterday I made very buttery cookies on a silicone mat that was too big for the pan, so its surface was a bit curved. It did not occur to me that this would be a problem, but as soon as the butter started to melt, the cookies all slid together, resulting in the largest shortbread ever.
<shrug> Sometimes the cookies know better than we do how to bake themselves.
