Exactly. Apple didn’t “open up” anything they just slightly loosened the leash while keeping full control. True openness means permissionless access, not a walled garden where only pre-approved entities get a key.

If you need Apple’s blessing to use your own hardware in a meaningful way, you don’t own it they do.
