i knew there was a reason i instantly liked the design of the canon BJC-70. the charcoal grey case shares a lot with the Powerbooks of its time. but the part that grabbed my attention was the ribbing at the back.

i pulled out my NeXT Laser printer for a comparison. Canon manufactured NeXT's laser printers, and then (iirc) later acquired NeXT's manufacturing tech when the company shut down in the late 90s.

no coincidence that Canon borrowed some of that styling for some of their mid-90s bubblejets.
