They're tiny because they choose to be tiny and, having caused two world wars fuelled by nationalism, in their arrogance they think that the planet still spins around them.They forget the nation state is a 19th century invention and we're an aging, tiny continent.
As for the UK, as long as it's not within my lifetime, whatever, it can one day be part of what the EU will mutate into (a Republic). But we cannot build it with them, so thank fuck they're out of the way.
