Grumble ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฑ on Nostr: Gleaning - giving the poor the right to gather the remains of a crop in the field - ...

Gleaning - giving the poor the right to gather the remains of a crop in the field - is about as old as field crops themselves.

Note that I said "right" and not privilege. Old Testament God commands farmers to leave a part of their crop for the poor and the strangers, not that the oldest parts of the bible mean anything to modern capitalists and their christianish proles.

I think it's a fairly easy argument to make that restaurants and markets should allow their surplus to go to the poor.
