I love old Victorian knitting patterns:
Lines and lines of code to replicate the stitch pattern, then just "turn the heel".
The assumption that you wouldn't need a pattern to knit a basic pair of socks, and you only need this pattern to replicate the stitch pattern and maybe some other little details.
