The UK & EU payment systems are both much needed and long overdue. Tho it's mad that that the UK system involves Mastercard.
But still, the folly of Trump's hubris is extraordinary. The world accepted the USA taking a cut of nearly all retail transactions, but couldn't resist shooting the goose that lays the golden egg. The many Republicans who understand the limits of soft power are now silenced by fear of the MAGA attack machines.
