The greater a man's dedication to self-mastery of himself, in the mirror of the law of God in the Bible, the more he becomes his own master, his own God. And, the more he can be lead astray through a corruption of reason.
Put quite plainly, a man cannot see himself from the outside, you can tell a man what is wrong, but he is not greater than himself, and so he cannot fix himself.
