This is so similar to arguments that I hear from Bitcoin proponents. "Yes, it costs a lot, but look at the usage."

That usage is happening in addition to everything else. Most studies of LLM usage do not support the claim that we are getting economic value out of the 500 million active users. This is not disrupting markets the way proponents argued.
