cyberpunklord420 (npub1x5c…m07a) Ryu (npub1ftj…pjju) I'm actually still a Lightning novice myself. I'm using Alby (getalby.com) which is a web wallet. They have a browser extension too, but I don't use it... I plug into it via a smartphone app (Zeus) or just via web browser directly.
I know this is ungood, being custodial/hosted (Alby has my keys, and thus controls my coins) but its easier to start out with. If I wanted full self custody, I'd have to set up my own Lightning node and that has too big a time & resource cost for me to handle right now.
Personally, I think Alby is a fine starting point to figure out Lightning. You might not be a fan of web wallets, but if all you did was top it up to immediately spend, I think its a good enough compromise.
I'm afraid I don't know good desktop wallets for Lightning now, but I'll look into it & get back if I find any.
