This is a theme I've been thinking about a lot recently. It seems most people say they want Freedom, but they actually want security and to not have to take the consequences of their actions. There is a quote from Terry Pratchett that goes something like this, "In the end the only true freedom is the freedom to take the consequences." It is Lord V, and I can't remember which book, but it is such a good observation.
