As a follower of Jesus, in the Anabaptist tradition, I agree. For civil society, I want secularism not theocracy. Although my idea of secularism involves debate in the public square in which religious beliefs have an equally respected (but not privileged) voice.
The tolerance of difference is a difficult one - rights invariably overlap & clash, & a society cannot be so tolerant that it permits one minority to abuse another minority.
