i have a stripe account, which i use to manage subscribers and payments for my Zine Club. but i have all of the email notifications turned off on my account. (ALL OF THEM, i'm very deliberate about this across all platforms.)

so today i get an email from stripe, telling me that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has been added to the agenda for some kind of dumb conference that Stripe is running.

not only that, but they say that he's going to have a "fireside chat" with the CEO of Stripe to talk about about "leadership in the face of AI."

they are literally bypassing my user preferences to tell me that they are sucking up to a bootlicker. WTF?? it's almost enough to make me try to switch platforms, except that this would be very difficult, as most of the alternative platforms for this type of subscription (patreon, etc) are built on top of stripe anyway.

now i just feel alienated and like a hostage and also somewhat baffled that they thought sending out this announcement in the face of the current political situation was a good idea.
