#WritersCoffeeClub 10. Is it ethical to base characters on real people? What is the limit?
some of the most immortal characters in fiction were based on real people. we'd be cutting out a lot of literature if we decided that this was not allowed.
i might question the creativity of an author whose characters are literal transpositions of the people they know in real life. i would only think it was unethical if the author shared information about them that was supposed to remain private (betraying trust), or included details that could end up doxxing them.
