You always have to upload and send a link, in every app. Some apps just don't let you choose which server to use because they want to lock you into their services. There is no such thing as just sending the picture.

That being said, if you are in your photos or whatsapp and click share, you should see a menu of apps and amethyst is one of them. Then just upload to your preferred service and hit send.
