Rolled credits last night on "Gris" - just an absolutely lovely poem of a game.
The gorgeous watercolor art style is the easiest piece to highlight, and it deserves all of the laurels it receives. (It feels like the Gwen Stacey segment of Across the Spiderverse may have cribbed some ideas from this game, to both of their benefit.)
I don't see enough said about the gameplay, though. Original character capabilities, paced perfectly to tie into the feeling of the story, and handed to the player in a way that's understood through gentle exploration. Each level very different but intuitive, designed to pull you forward through the intrigue of discovery. And no violence - just the character working against her own challenges made manifest.
It's a perfect example of video game as art - beautifully done.
