just finished reading “Btooom!” last night

it’s battle royale but they’re only given bombs (see the name of the manga) to kill each other (some of these bombs are straight up sci-fi shit despite the story takes place in $current_year), it’s not just highschool students being sent to the murder island, and The Conspiracy isn’t limited to just the japanese government

these characters are getting sent into said death game because most of them are just straight up garbage human beings and they got nominated by someone who despises them or was once wronged by them, but there are also a few who got falsely accused and just got the short end of the stick being sent along with them

i think it’s great. the art looks really nice (especially the background), and i think this manga is the very first one i’ve ever read where there’s like multiple endings. overall i give it 8/10.

i once read it years ago, but dropped it not because it started to suck, but because i was a wangsty teenager who could barely handle these kinda “bunch of red shirts murdering each other” stories. i’m fine with them now obviously
